We just held the year’s first Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Forum. All of the campaigns complemented us on the event, and we had great press coverage. What’s next?

Meeting Agenda:

• TCYD executive board will be talking about our 2010 campaign plan.
• FUN stuff, campaign staff and internship opportunities, philanthropy and of course social events (parties).
• Representatives from the statewide campaigns are always invited, and often attend.
• It’s time to think about leadership opportunities and officers for the coming year.

Tarrant Young Democrats and TCU College Democrats are presenting this cycles’ first Gubernatorial Candidates Forum. (That’s a lot like a debate). Texas Christian University has agreed to host the event at the brand new student center ballroom on Wednesday, November 18th, at 7PM.

Hank Gilbert, Felix Alvarado and Tom Schieffer to participate.

All Young Democrats and College Democrats in the area are encouraged to attend. The event is open to all ages. ‘First Come, First Seated’ applies. Students: Please arrive by 6:30 for guaranteed seating.

Lots 3, 4, 7 & 8 near the university union will be available for parking for this event. Do NOT park in Lot 6, that is reserved parking.

The forum will last approximately 90 minutes.A moderator panel will be present. All candidates will be given an opportunity in a fairly selected order to respond.

Students will have an opportunity to ask 3 of the issues questions of the candidates. You may submit your questions before November 11th. Please commit to being present at the forum, otherwise an alternate will be given the opportunity.

YD’s:

Our next meeting will be at the new Pour House, on the patio outside. The forecast calls for a high of 73 and sunny. If weather turns poor, we’ll meet inside.

State Representative Chris Turner will speak. Our officers will discuss our campaign plan for the 2010 cycle. Officers will also present service project ideas, and campaign internship opportunities.
